Lot 5:
David Delamare’s (1951-2016) Alice in Wonderland Lithograph. Framed and Matted. Signed lower right. Measures 19.25" tall x 16.5" wide. Some light damage on the bottom edge of the frame. David Delamare was born in Leicester, UK, in December 1951. He moved to the Hawthorne District of Portland, Oregon, when he was small and remained within walking distance of his childhood home until his death in September 2016.During his last twenty-two years, David lived and worked with his agent and publisher, Wendy Ice. Eventually, they adopted two rabbit muses and a giant sulcata tortoise. David and Wendy were married in 2013.David began painting in childhood and was proud to have never held a "real" job. Though in the early years, he supplemented his income with creative stints such as graphic design, sign-painting, stained glass repair, art teaching, and blues guitar, he soon gave these up to become a full-time fine artist and illustrator. He worked in various media, including etching, pencil, acrylic, and gouache. But in his final years, he painted almost exclusively with oil on canvas. Delamare paintings have appeared in museums, on book and album covers, in television programs such as Marsalis on Music, and in numerous films. Eleven of the books that David illustrated were published in his lifetime. At the time of his death, he and his wife Wendy were planning several more volumes for which he had completed the artwork. These included a mermaid book, a fairy book, a figurative book, and a retrospective. All invoices must be paid within 24 hours of the sale. Get StartedI’m happy with everything Joe and Janet did, you were both informative and were very helpful with the questions I had being that I was never in that position before. Janet’s response time was also positive for me. It was interesting to watch the auction live. I thought you did an amazing job and had a nice banter back and forth. You seem to be a good team! Thank you for all your hard work and making this difficult time of letting my deceased father’s collectibles go an easy experience.
I would like to thank you for including me in your online sale.
Everything from none contact drop off, to none contact pick up, was handled with the outmost professionalism.
I appreciated your clear communication after the sale with a printout and an explanation of when I’ll receive my check.
Overall I was very please with the prices my jewelry achieved, some lot went for less then I expected, others went for more, it’s all in the average.
Thank you very much
I come to your auctions often. You and your staff are great. Your change to an online auction on 4/9 is just another testament to your fine character and being thoughtful of others. The items are great no doubt, but a big reason I keep coming back is due to the culture you have created. Thank you. Art
